ON the road again...
Well After a week of icing my knee I'm off to the Canadian Open in White rock BC. Stoked to see the set-up and the talent that will ensue.

Foreverskim drops issue #33
FSM recently dropped issue #33 which includes a great article from Bryce Casselman exploring the skim scene from BC's Sunshine Coast. I got a couple shots in the article. Thanks Bryce!

www.tydlemag.com
I have recently been asked to contribute to Tydle as a correspondent from the sunshine coast. So look for some local sun-coast action in issue three of the world's first magazine fully dedicated to flatland skimboarding. Great work Lynch, Minns and the crew from this top notch online publication.

Sunny Day ended at RC
Well it's finally getting warmer and The tides are within daylight hours. I went out yesterday for a soul sesh and was captured on film by Zephyr Willson. Always fun to go bust some shorestryle at RC. Bryce C and myself just went on a trash mission to build a few rails for this beach so stay tuned for some pics of that...

two spot sesh yesterday..
SPOT CHECKING:
Went to whitaker yesterday morning and then on to check out an unskimmed spot that Rudland, and Rory noticed had become quite sandy in the last couple years. We have yet to master the spot that's for sure so most of the photos are of lone waves or bails. The bigger they were the harder to ride. Can't wait for the next time we get to ride this spot!!

here's a couple I snapped before suiting up:

Port Renfrew, Vancouver Island
Grant bay, Vancouver Island
SPOT CHECKING:
Grant Bay is on the northern most part of the island. With almost no amenities nearby you are on your own for the most part. So it's full on beach living, which I love. We normally build a sauna and eat a bunch of good food. With it's exposure to ocean currents and swell, the beach receives a large amount of trash, most of the bottles have japanese writing on them, crazy! So keep our ocean clean dammit we all share it the same.
We built a sweet crab net out of trash, I don't have a photo of that due to losing it in a storm that night.

TWO OR THREE NIGHTS AND DAYS IN THE LIFE OF..
I'm missing the rare footage of a certain hotel brawl involving basically four of BC's recognized skimmers, perhaps I'll have to re-edit this bullshit video at a later date if I can get my hands on it!

Roberts Creek Beach
SPOT CHECKING:
Roberts Creek Beach. This spot is just down the road from my house in Roberts Creek, BC. The best time to go is a 5 or 6 foot tide and winds from the NW anywhere from 15 to 25 knots. It's a healthy mix of flatland styles and wave. We just call it shorestyle. Enjoy!
Where's the winch?

And still we wait..
These are the "winter feels like forever times". Hopefully this blog will go dfunk'd in summer because I'm too busy skimming. Seems like that would give me something to update on winter days without skim.
I managed to squeak in a session on monday at Roberts Creek beach. A pretty much perfect beach under the right conditions. Now the tide is too high and only low at night for what looks like another week or two... so here's something entertaining at the least:

Thormanby Island Sunshine Coast BC.
SPOT CHECKING:
The following are photos from various sessions from Thormanby Island. A great place to flatland skim as well as wave skimming. You can camp right at the skim spot. I like to go early season to avoid the yachters and associated deuchpangs. It's a pretty special place to have all to your crew. Enjoy!!
Rory: into not over.
Bryce: shuv grab
Scoco: mute
Bryce: backside 180
